NO  ONE DREAMS OF PLAYING BACK UP QUARTERBACK!
Most quarterbacks have aspirations  of playing first string. Football players want to be number one on the depth  charts, nothing wrong with that. If you’re going to play you should strive to be  the best you can be.
In the game of life we don’t always  reach the goals we have set for ourselves or we may choose not to set any goals  at all. Either way God is available to help (a very present help) to each of us.  We can also receive help in the form of a mentor.  If we are playing back  up quarterback we may need someone to talk too.
I had two people as a young boy who  were instrumental in pointing me to Christ. They were mentors, but I didn’t know  it at the time. They were my first pastor,  Emanuel Rocke,
and a Sunday School teacher, John  Ackerman.
Most people reading this article  will have never played first string quarterback or first
fiddle in the band, but each of us  have the potential of living a Godly life.
“And the Lord will guide you  continually, and satisfy you with good things, and keep you healthy too; and you  will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing  spring.”
